COMPANY
PROFILE
It all started back in the 70's working for Swalley Printing Company in
Birmingham, AL for 6 years, my jobs included running presses,
folders, preparing shipping and receiving. The owner of the company
also gave me three pieces of equipment that were used to start
Santos Printing later in 1985.
In the early 80's
I worked for Empire Press in Birmingham, AL for my uncle, Calvin
Barnett, the man who taught me everything there was to know in the
printing business.
Then in 1985, the
original shop was started in a 12' x 12' wood building, in Hokes
Bluff, AL, with the three pieces of equipment given to me by Swalley
Printing back in the late 70's. Jim Lee at Learning Systems
Technologies in Hokes Bluff was my first customer and from there it
has grown every year since.
One and a half
years later I was approached by David Reeves of Modern Printing to
join forces with him and his company. Later he left the business
after due to family losses that required him to move out of town.
Shortly thereafter
I moved to Second and Broad Street renting the old Amsouth Bank
building. This is the location that the company officially became
Santos Printing Company.
The
company stayed at this location for 4 years before moving again to
the old Hagedorn building on Broad Street. The company stayed at
this location for 10 years before making one last move to my present
location at 508 Broad Street in Gadsden, AL, where the company has
been for the last 4 years.
In the 19 years
that I have been in business, customers have come from across the
country including New York, California, Florida, Tennessee,
countless others, plus the Bahamas. The client base to date covers
over 5000 customers providing everything from business cards, custom
logos, letterheads, basically anything that can be printed.
